Established after a two-decade absence of record stores on the island, the business was built on a bold mission—to revitalise the local music scene and create a physical space for vinyl lovers to connect, explore, and celebrate music.

From its inception, Sound Records positioned itself not merely as a shop, but as a community hub—hosting live performances, participating in festivals, and supporting emerging artists. As the business matured, it recognised the need to expand its reach and evolve with consumer expectations through a more sophisticated and strategic digital presence.

Solution

Sakura Creatives was engaged to elevate both the brand identity and digital infrastructure of Sound Records. The approach focused on two core areas: reinforcing the brand’s cultural position locally, while creating a scalable digital experience that could serve a wider, global audience.

1. Brand Development and Community Building

We refined the brand around its core values—authenticity, inclusivity, and musical exploration. This included:

  • Preserving the store’s grassroots aesthetic while applying a more polished visual language across content and assets.
  • Amplifying their role as cultural ambassadors by supporting initiatives such as Record Store Day, where they’ve been an official partner since 2019.
  • Enabling consistent community engagement through in-store events, live sessions, and partnerships with local musicians and festivals.

The brand is now recognised as a cornerstone of music culture on the Isle of Man.

2. E-Commerce and Digital Strategy

Recognising the growing demand for online accessibility, we developed and implemented a full e-commerce strategy that included:

  • Launching a new website showcasing their curated inventory of new and pre-owned vinyl records.
  • Integrating a secure, user-friendly checkout process, complete with international shipping capabilities.
  • Enhancing navigation and search functionality to support both casual browsers and dedicated collectors.

3. Social Media and Multimedia Content

To deepen engagement and grow their digital footprint, Sound Records embraced multimedia and social-first storytelling:

  • Active social profiles on Instagram and Facebook were aligned with the brand’s visual tone and content strategy, creating a consistent and engaging presence.
